Why is the majority of my conversion traffic coming through as direct/(none) on Google Analytics?

 

The most common reason for the majority of conversion traffic coming through as direct/(none) is that this is due to 'cross domain tracking' not being in place within your Analytics profile.
If you use a 3rd party provider for your registration process, it is vital that cross domain tracking is set up to ensure that a new session is not started when a user leaves the main site to begin the registration process.


Without cross domain tracking, a lot of our campaign data can get lost and grouped under 'direct / (none)' within Google Analytics, as a link has not been established between the 3rd party ticketing site and the main website.
